North Essex Cluster meeting 9th October 2015
Brethren you may recall the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro Terry Sheern announced at the Provincial meeting in May, his intention to hold an annual Cluster meeting in the North of the Province.
Aurelius Lodge No. 814 volunteered to hold the first meeting and this took place on Friday 9th October at the Colvin Masonic Centre in Clacton on Sea. There were in excess of 70 Mark Brethren in attendance.
The Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a retinue of 24 Active Provincial Officers, was received into the Lodge and was greeted by the Worshipful Master who offered the PGM the Gavel which he accepted.
R.W. Bro. Sheern then addressed the Brethren briefly with some of his future plans for our Province. He also added that, since a Provincial Grand Master can, he intended to take the Chair in all his Lodges at some stage which he viewed as an honour to be so privileged.
That done, The Worshipful Master resumed his position and Bro. Martin Pearse was duly Advanced into the Honourable Degree of Mark Master Mason. The Ceremony was carried out in an excellent, if somewhat unique and humorous fashion (next time we will provide the Overseers with a compass--if you were there you know what it means!)
All in all, however, a splendid Ceremony carried out in the the manner in which Grand Lodge describes Mark Masonry, that is to say, " a wonderful ceremony containing elements of drama and humour, and, above all, strong moral lessons"
The Brethren subsequently dined in harmony before retiring in friendship.
The Provincial Grand Master wishes to thank all those who traveled to the meeting to support it and him.
