North Essex Cluster Meeting
At Saxon Shore Lodge of Mark Master Masons, No.1319, Tollesbury
As advertised, the second North Essex Cluster meeting took place at Saxon Shore Lodge Tollesbury on Tuesday 5th October; it was, once more, an exiting and successful event bringing Mark Master Masons together under the auspices of the Saxon Shore Lodge with a full evening of ritual and work with the Lodge celebrating it's own 50th anniversary as well.
The Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro. Terence D. Sheern, was received into the Lodge with a retinue of officers which included the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Richard Bowyer; both Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, W.Bros. Roger Wacey and John Emmerick; W.Bro. Charles White, Grand Steward and twenty active Provincial Grand Officers.
The, relatively, small temple was packed to the rafters with over seventy Mark Master Masons enjoying the evening of varied events. As in the previous cluster meeting, this was a working meeting with the Worshipful Master Advancing Bro. Stephen Reynolds into the Mark Degree in a most able manner. The PGM was also made to sing for his supper as there was a Grand Lodge Presentation to Bro. Paul Clancy; an MBF Grand Patron Collar presentation to the Lodge and a presentation of a fifty year certificate to W.Bro. Gordon Carpenter who also received a promotion to Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden.
Once the meeting was concluded and the Lodge closed, all the brethren retired to an excellent festive board made all the sweeter by the presence of a celebratory cake for Gordon. The Lodge also made a generous donation of £200 to the Essex Mark Welfare Fund.
The proceedings concluded, the brethren retired home having enjoyed the entire event which, once again, was a splendid example of the fine ritual and fine friendship to be found in the Mark Degree.
