Mark Auction a Grand Success!
The Grand Auction was held at Saxon Hall on Saturday 11th November in the marvelous surroundings of the Jubilee Suite.
With a huge catalogue of items numbering over 100, ranging from a Smart Car down to bottles of fine wine (not a Joey Brown to be seen) via Royal Palladium tickets and vouchers for shoes a large and anticipatory audience gathered. The style may not have been quite Christies, but the enthusiasm was equally as high!
It was to prove a long day, but bargains were to be had and, as a result, well received funds donated to the Mark Provincial Welfare Fund. The Provincial Grand Master and other members of the Mark Executive along with a fair number of attendees, not just Mark Master Masons but brethren of all Orders as well as their families and friends, all bid hard for items. As a result, a fantastic sum of (just over) £6,000 was raised. Everyone should be justly proud of the effort put in to making the event a success as well as those who bid freely. Some of the proceeds will also be used in support of the MBF appeal to support St John's ambulance service and other local charities.
A special thanks must go to Richard Goodwin and his team of helpers, Charles White, Brian Birkin, Glenn Remblance,David Garston, David Bailey, Emlyn Carter, Paul Thurgood, Peter Steele, Alan Wood and Maurice Webb.
