2017 Provincial Grand Officers Mess
Friday, 24th November saw nearly one hundred Grand and Provincial Grand Officers gather at the superb setting of the Benton Hall Golf Club, Maldon Road, Witham. As is the usual custom, all enjoyed a chat over a few drinks in the bar before the meal. This was a distinct change is venue type with the PGM making a conscious decision to chose a venue that was easier for many members of the province to get to rather than facing the long drive to, and from, Southend on Sea. Judging from the numbers attending, it was clearly a success.
At the conclusion of the meal, last year's President, W.Bro. Bill Dyer, the Past Provincial Grand Junior Warden, welcomed all the brethren to the evening especially and was pleased to propose a toast to the new President and Provincial Grand Warden, W.Bro. Pierre Waddoups.
W.Bro. Pierre took the opportunity of addressing the brethren and details of his address are available below. He then went on to propose the toast to our Provincial Grand Master which was met with acclaim.
The PGM, in his response, reminded all of the ongoing initiatives in Essex as well as reminding all of upcoming events.
As is the usual custom, he also took the opportunity to announce the names of the next Wardens as well as his nomination for Grand Steward. Notes from his address are available below.
After having enjoyed a fine four course meal with wine, the brethren retired to the bar where, we are told, a few final putts to the 19th hole were made.
